Corporate Controller

Reporting to the CFO, the Corporate Controller provides management and leadership related to all accounting, audit, and corporate financial matters.  Must have public company experience.  Must have active CPA license. 
  • Managing the general accounting function
  • Evaluating and making appropriate improvements to internal accounting processes, ensuring that practices are in line with the overall goals of the organization
  • Leading the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closes and financial reporting and managing the annual audit to ensure that they are conducted in accordance with relevant deadlines; serving as lead liaison with external audit firms; preparing and reviewing journal entries, accruals, analysis, and reconciliations as necessary
  • Overseeing general ledger accounting, inventory and cost accounting, fixed asset tracking, expense reimbursements (Concur), and cash forecasting
  • Manage equity administration including grants, exercises, and 409A valuation reports
  • Owning ERP administration by identifying issues and proactively initiating corrective actions and enhancements
  • Coordinating and performing tax activities such as tax returns, tax provisions, sales tax payments, business tax, and 1099 filings
  • Overseeing accounts payable and payroll and acts as a back-up when necessary
  • Assisting in the budgeting life cycle. Interacts with department heads and preparing an accurate analysis of departmental spending
  • Administering and maintaining the Company’s accounting policies and procedures in accordance with all accounting rules and regulations and ensures adherence to accounting policies and procedures
  • Researching, determining, and documenting the accounting implications of transactions or changes in business
  • Assessing the financial implications of new accounting pronouncements on the Company’s operations
  • Identifying opportunities to increase efficiencies and improve processes
  • Participating in projects as required
  • Performing a variety of tasks
  • Leading and directing the work of others
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Degree in accounting or related field preferred
  • Public accounting and operational experience preferred 
  • 8-15+ years’ experience
Knowledge and Training May Require:
  • CPA license required
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, including ASC 606, 840 and 409A
  • Experience in software and life sciences industries (medical device) preferred
  • Proven ability to research and resolve technical accounting issues and reporting matters
  • Excellent quantitative and qualitative problem solving skills, time and project management, and communication skills required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word and databases
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to be flexible and adaptive in a start-up culture
  • Familiarity with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected
